RE: Dometic recall

I didnt realize that the recall was going on for that long. When I spoke to the customer rep, she made it sound like it was something new and they just became aware of it. Even said that the letters didnt go out to the public until last friday, 4 days ago. Oh well, I guess have to keep my appt to get the fridge fixed then, lol

Dometic recall

I have been having some problems with my fridge ever since we bought our rv in oct of '04. I has never cooled properly and has always stayed a constant 45 degrees. We have taken it to the dealership twice and each time they have said it was ok. They suggested I call Dometic and see what they thought. Well, I did, and the lady informed me that there was a recall for certain models manufactured from '98 to the present. Apperantly, something inside allows propane to escape among other things. They stated to turn the unit off and dont use it, as it is a potential for a fire. The recall letters went out last friday to all rv owners with the affected models. I sure hope this fixes my fridge once and for all.

RE: Plastic Water containers, are they dangerous?

That website snopes doesnt seem to work, as i cant get anything but a blank page with an ad and some links to other sites. One of the links did send me to another site (a health site) which also talked about the dangers of reusing single bottles of water and not drinking bottles that were left in hot vehicles.

Plastic Water containers, are they dangerous?

The other day I was reading an article at the dr's office where they were talking about the dangers plastic water containers pose when they are exposed to heat which causes the chemicals in the plastic to leach into the water. It also mentioned not to re-use the containers. I was wondering what people did to combat this problem (if any), especially those who are full timers. When we use our rv, we always take plenty of bottled water and use the holding tank water for dishes, handwashing, ect. It can get pretty warm inside the trailer and we dont always have room in the fridge to store the water, so it is stored inder the sink. I would really like to get feedback on this issue. Thanks.

RE: Brakesmart controller

Thanks for the tip on the reset, it worked. I had looked previously in the manual for some trouble shooting tips but i could not find them. I didnt even have to reset the time or date, as the reboot did that for me. I really appreciate the help.

Brakesmart controller

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but i was wondering if Brakesmart controllers are still being manufactured. I am having some problems with mine and may need to send it back. The display does not change when it comes to the date and time and the display for the braking does not read like it used to. Anyone ever have this problem?

RE: Cell Phone Service in Mexico

this is what I did, it seemed cheaper to me. I took an old cell phone that I had and had it activated in mexico. For me it was cheaper to buy the minutes than have to pay .60 a minute using my at&t phone. For $100 pesos, (or $10) i got quite a few minutes.

RE: Has anyone had this happend to them??

Do not remove the old sticker, trust me, been there done that, it is not worth the hassle of explaining yourself. Only the 21k ppl have the authority to remove the sticker, who will document it. You have to go get a new sticker with your new camper from the ppl who issue the permits and you might have to have proof of selling your other camper. I had a pickup that was totaled in mexico and had a hassle of trying to bring another vehicle into the country since their records showed i already had one there, what a pain that was.
